Laura Higgins (b. 2002, Bristol) works primarily with metal, approaching the material as both a technical challenge and a site for speculative play. Her practice is driven by an ongoing enquiry into process — how unfamiliar or overlooked metalworking techniques might be reoriented toward expressive, sculptural ends. Objects emerge through this testing, their purpose often uncertain, or possibly reimagined.

Decorative, functional, and derelict forms intersect and blur, prompting questions around categorisation and value. The works carry traces of industrial making, but this aesthetic is softened by an undercurrent of feminine identity that is channelled into through gestures, detailing and finishes. What results is an unfolding body of work that brings together material, object, and subversive identity.
